Love in bloom

Heather Freeman admits to being a bit old fashioned when it comes to weddings. So how could she possibly refuse when her boyfriend Michael took her out for breakfast and said, "I'd be proud to say we're engaged to be married and I'd be honoured if you'd be my wife." Heather knew that she and Michael would get married sometime but it was still a complete surprise when he proposed.

Heather and Michael started on their wedding plans straight away and called in Events of Elegance for assistance in coordinating the fairytale wedding the bride and groom were hoping for, "They were outstanding and took the stress out of designing the wedding," says Heather. Their coordinator sat down with the bride and groom and discussed the image of the wedding they wanted and then helped the couple with everything except choosing the venue.

Heather and Michael chose Cyprus Lakes Resort in the Hunter Valley for their wedding and were pleased that most of the guests could stay for the whole weekend. "I wanted everyone to have fun at my wedding," enthuses Heather, And fun they did have - from the wedding itself to a golf tournament to the personalised bottles of wine and keepsake tins of chocolate cashews that the bride and groom had placed in each guest's room.

The wedding ceremony took place in the resort's extensive gardens where the guests were serenaded by roving entertainers before the formalities began. The flowers for the ceremony were simply breathtaking. No less than 65 bags of rose petals were scattered over the grass to form a floral aisle while enormous flower arrangements in Grecian urns adorned the surrounds. Guests were given specially made cones containing rose petals to shower on the couple in place of confetti. When the bride arrived, everybody agreed that she looked simply radiant, Heather had chosen a blush pink strapless bodice with matching A-line skirt by Wendy Makin, who also made up a miniature version of the gown for Heather's flower girl.
